See, this is where I am from. A place where the losing army still flies their flag. People who support this flag say it is their heritage they care about. The fathers and sons who died fighting for their country.

I say…..my people died hanging from trees, hunted by dogs, shot down by men, women raped, and enslaved….that’s what the flag represents to me. An army that wanted to maintain that lifestyle. Yes, this is my home. Good old South Carolina.

Having said that I wake up this morning to only find out these folks around here want to secede from the union. Well I’ll be damned!!!

Citizens from SC, other states, petition White House to secede


The petitions, which quotes the opening line of the Declaration of Independence, were recently posted.

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

The petitioners are asking for a peaceful severance from the Union in order give the state the ability to form its own government as a sovereign state.

As mentioned earlier, South Carolina is not the only state to petition in the last six days. Citizens from former members of the Confederate States, such as Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi have also asked for secession.

The very same petition from the state of Texas has already compiled 25,000 signatures from all across the country.

As for South Carolina’s petitions, they have until Dec. 10, 2012 to reach the signature goal of 25,000.
