New age of music

I held a discussion with my homeboy that brought something to my attention. That something is the new era of getting music.

Let’s face it! I’ve seen 8 track tapes, vinyl, cassette tapes, CDs, mini disc, and mp3s throughout my lifetime. So many different means to allow music to be purchased for the enjoyment of the listener.

Fast forward to today and you see a vast majority of listeners with their music in a mp3 format to play at their leisure. Many choose to do so on a smart phone or even a tablet worse case scenario. I say worse case scenario because I think it is more likely to see someone out and about with their phone since it is a little more accessible.

Now with this new technology at our fingertips comes a new age of listening to music. That new way is streaming and without a doubt more an more people seem to be learning about it and utilizing it to replace the radio. When you think about it logically it’s almost the same as satellite radio with more control over what you choose to listen to at the time it’s convenient to you.

This is definitely a game changer and as usual the big companies are behind the eight ball trying to figure out how to make it work for them. On the other side of the coin it gives unsigned artist a little more leverage to being able to get your music heard.

The question is how can you use it to your advantage?

No worries I’ll be back with a part two to this post very soon. For now I’d just like to dwell on it a little more!!!!
