I Still Love H.E.R.

I’m not the most righteous man in the world and I wouldn’t try to take such a stance to say that I am. I am however, a man built on morals that are based solely on right and wrong. Through those morals I see with eyes that can at times be a little unforgiving in terms of things that are dear to me. One of those things happens to be the culture if Hip Hop.

Some people don’t understand the nature of this culture and in all honesty maybe I am the one who doesn’t understand. I see so many positive things in this art form from expression, freedom, honesty, and inspiration. Of course, we could bring up all the negativity that surrounds it but I won’t do that in this post. I’ll explain why a little later.

This culture has grown to unify the world in ways similar to religion. People who didn’t witness it’s birth first hand witnessed it migrate to their area and influence their surroundings. People who spoke other languages in different countries witnessed it travel to them and influence their culture as well. By doing so it made people of various backgrounds have a common interest which in turn broke down the barriers that separated us. In other words it unified a world of people in a matter of decades and gave us something we could all relate to.

The small, less fortunate guy, was able to have a voice. Through that voice it didn’t matter if the big guy heard the cries of injustice. As long as the voice reached other less fortunate people that was all that mattered. It rallied all the have nots together and unified a million voices into one large sound so that the big man had no choice but to listen. Once the big man heard a million different cries things began to change.

That is why this culture is so important to me and many others. We appreciate what it has done for us on so many different levels that it is hard to imagine what the world would be like had this culture not invaded the minds of the people of the world. For this moment I would just like to reflect on the positive and not the negative as many of us do from time to time. Rather than say what is wrong with culture lets focus on the good and maybe….just maybe….the positive will overpower the negative.

This isn’t a post about me being right but more so a post of just a thought that I wanted to share. No worries though, I’m sure one day I will speak on the negative, but today is not that day!!!!

No Excuses

We are all familiar with excuses! Sometimes we use them for lack of feeling responsible other times we use them as an explanation for a situation.
How your excuse applies to the situation makes all the difference in the world!

If you head to work and your tire blows you have no control over that situation so it’s a good excuse. If you woke up late and couldn’t make it to work on time that too is an excuse, just not a good one. There lies the biggest issue with excuses. They are too convenient to use.

If you can do something you should do it rather than come up with an excuse as to why you can’t do it. Procrastination coexists with excuses because no matter your excuse it hinders the overall goal you set out to accomplish. Waiting on others is a guaranteed way to have to come up with an excuse to explain your shortcomings.

Sometimes I find myself wanting to do something but not able to do it the way that I would like to. I have had to realize that that is fine, but it is no excuse to not do what I can do. Why wait to gain everything you need to start anything? Why not just get started and gain along the way? Once you start something everything else eventually falls into place.

This is a lesson I have learned, forgotten, and learned again. So the sooner you learn to never forget it the more you can accomplish because there is no excuse for waisting time!!!!

Realizing Reality

What’s up world. Today has finally given my home a chance to bask in the sun rather than bathe us in its rain as it has done for the past two days. The downside is after the rain when the sun comes out its …..oh so muggy. Hot and muggy to be exact. Which is the most common reason for people hating my home…..but it’s my home nonetheless and I love it.

On another note, lately I have been checking out blogs of different types, not just the ones I’m used to reading, but blogs concerning business, entertainment, art, etc. You name it and there is a blog for it. I follow a couple of high school classmates who blog about fitness and health…..and of course…. fun!!! I must admit, reading other peoples thoughts gives me a means to look at myself and ask questions about what I really do with my life.

The thing I’m starting to realize with blogging is the potential it has for growing an audience for whatever it is you do. I remember starting my blog not knowing where I would end. I just felt that it was important to utilize this channel of technology for letting the world know I am here. I mean, it’s available to all, so we should put it to use.

Some people may say that feeling that way is self centered maybe, others may feel its informative and it has a purpose. I say it’s important to find a way to make people aware of whatever it is you have to offer. It could be advice, it could be a product that you offer, or if you are like me it could be both.

I’m no genius but I am an artist. Someone who is overly simple in his own mind but complex and complicated to people who personally know me (at least that’s what I’ve been told). I have always had a desire to show the world what I was given and that I will always a hip hop head who is trying to achieve the goal of success. I think there are plenty of people who can relate to the struggle of branding their artwork and making a living doing what they do best. Then there are those people who just relate because they too are living life and facing struggles even though they may not do what you do.

Maybe it’s just words of encouragement, something that makes a stranger believe that they too can start their own journey. Words are powerful and they do influence so I hope to one day look back on some of my posts and realize that it was worth the time and effort. Maybe one day this will be a lucrative hobby for me. After all, I did start blogging as a means to give my artwork a home on the Internet so people can follow me on my path and support me and my business of making music.

From this day forward I realize the power that this blog possesses so I will now use it with my best ability. It’s become ever so clear to me now and I will do my best to show the struggles and the victories of an artist. I feel as if maybe there is another artist out there who wants to succeed at their craft and through seeing another artist, such as myself, trying…well maybe they can feel inspired. It’s a cycle that I have encountered reading others blog about their experiences.

In closing, I’ve begun to see the advantages of making sure to give everything my all. Not just my life or my music, but this blog as well. You can’t expect to win if you don’t utilize the tools to success with every ounce of your ability. If the people know that your outlook on whatever your passion is pure and honest, they are more likely to accept whatever it is you offer.
